Just a quick reminder that if you struggle with self-doubt or imposter syndrome, there is almost ZERO benefit to comparing yourself to your colleagues.
Your brain will just get to work pointing out all the ways they are smarter or more confident or ‘further along’ than you. That’s what brains do.
Just because your industry or firm wants to add competition to its review or promotion processes, doesn’t mean you have to participate!
This was LIBERATING for me to realise as an associate.
I had so much shame comparing myself to my colleagues.
It wasn’t making me better at my job.
So, one day, I just decided to stop.
I decided to believe that:
You already know what you need to work on to get to the next level.
Stay in your own lane and you’ll get there more quickly.
