Partnership Track Workshops

The Confidence Playbook for Lawyers: From Self-Doubt to Self-Assured

Confidence isn’t something you’re born with—it’s a skill you can build. In this workshop, we’ll break down the science of confidence, helping you understand why you feel self-doubt and how to shift limiting beliefs that are holding you back.

You’ll learn practical strategies to develop self-assurance, handle high-pressure situations with composure, and project confidence and presence at work.

I’ll also share my own journey as a lawyer—how I struggled with imposter syndrome and the strategies that helped me feel more confident, advocate for myself, and ultimately make partnership.

Whether you struggle with speaking up in meetings, self-promotion, or trusting your own judgment, this session will give you a framework to step into your role with confidence.

Partnership Track: How Personal Beliefs Shape Your Prospects

Being a strong technical lawyer is a pre-requisite for making partnership, but developing a strong mindset is equally important. Resilience, self-confidence and emotional intelligence are drivers of high-performance and leadership.

In this workshop, we’ll explore the beliefs and mindsets that might be holding you back, whether that's imposter syndrome, perfectionism, fear of negative opinions or other generally held limiting beliefs in the industry.

You’ll gain insight into how these beliefs shape your performance, visibility and career trajectory, and learn practical strategies to shift limiting mindsets to set yourself up for success.

Drawing from my own journey to partnership, I’ll share the mindset traps that slowed me down, the shifts that accelerated my success, and how you can develop your own path forward.

Whether you’re determined to make partner or just considering it as an option, this session will help you set yourself up for success.

How to Have "Difficult" Conversations: Building Confidence & Influence

"Difficult" conversations are an inevitable part of a lawyer’s career—whether it’s giving corrective feedback, bad news or holding colleagues accountable. Yet, many lawyers avoid these discussions out of discomfort, fear of conflict or concern over damaging relationships.

This workshop will help you reframe your mindset, manage your discomfort and develop the confidence to approach these conversations with confidence and clarity.

Through practical strategies and real-world examples, you’ll learn how to structure difficult conversations, balance directness with empathy, and handle resistance effectively. More importantly, we’ll explore how these conversations—when done well—can actually enhance your credibility, strengthen relationships, and build your influence as a leader.

Whether you’re managing junior lawyers, collaborating with peers, or interacting with senior colleagues, this workshop will equip you with the tools to navigate challenging discussions with confidence and impact.

From Lawyer to Leader: Building Confidence & Impact

Excelling as a lawyer is one thing— leading with confidence is another. Many lawyers struggle with the transition from high-performing technical lawyer to effective team leader. They may hesitate to step into the role fully due to self-doubt, fear of conflict or a desire to be "liked". Others feel frustrated by team dynamics or overwhelmed by the challenge of balancing leadership responsibilities with heavy workloads.

In this workshop, I’ll share my own journey—including the frustrations and failures I faced managing junior colleagues, and how I worked through them to build confidence in my role as a team leader. I’ll discuss the mindset shifts and practical strategies that helped me build strong, lasting relationships—the very relationships that ultimately strengthened my business case for partnership.

We’ll explore why managing yourself is always the first step to leading others successfully, covering key skills such as emotional regulation and overcoming limiting mindsets. With that foundation, we’ll explore some practical leadership tools —so you can step into your role as a leader with greater clarity, authority, and impact.

About me

Hi there, I'm Alex. Former investment funds lawyer and partner turned professional coach. I work with lawyers to build successful careers, including helping them with confidence, performance, self-promotion and leadership.

Since leaving private practice in 2017 and becoming certified as a professional coach, I've worked with hundreds of lawyers across London and the US. The work has given me a hugely valuable insight into the common goals and struggles of lawyers as they navigate their professional lives. This allows me to create programs and workshops that deeply resonate with lawyers, rather than providing superficial fixes or guidance that doesn't track into the reality of the legal environment.

My mission is to support lawyers in creating successful and sustainable careers and in becoming confident, influential and impactful leaders within the industry.
