Struggle to enjoy quiet times at work? 😬

Uncategorized Apr 01, 2026

How do you feel when you have quiet times at work?

If you love them, fantastic – no need to read on, but I know there are some of you, who WISH for quiet periods… and then suffer when they arrive.

Instead of relaxing, recovering and enjoying the down-time, you worry about why you’re quiet, whether your “hours” will suffer, or how you’ll cope when it gets busy again.

Cue two weeks of feeling bad for doing “nothing”, before getting slammed on the next matter and WISHING that it was quiet again.

So, another reminder from me that you have a human brain.

If you don’t manage it, this is what it will create.

Your brain’s MAIN job is to point out problems and potential dangers in your life.

So, in an industry (and society) that is obsessed with productivity, hours worked and being the most ‘committed’ person that ever lived πŸ˜€… don’t expect your brain to be chill about down-time if you leave it unsupervised.

For most of the clients that I work with on this, there is no ACTUAL problem when they have quiet periods at work. Usually, the only ‘problem’ is their thoughts ABOUT it.

Of course, sometimes I work with clients on strategies to get more work, overcoming procrastination, building motivation etc etc.

But…90% of the time that is not necessary. The work will appear and their normal motivators will kick back into gear. It’s actually then their REST during the down-time that moves the needle on future performance.

So, whether you’re busy or quiet, don’t leave your brain unsupervised.

Your enjoyment of life is NOT its priority.

You have to CREATE that on purpose.πŸ’₯
