STOP doing this ✋ ... if you want to grow at pace

I’m going to guess that you hold yourself to pretty high standards…

That you WANT to improve, grow, learn from mistakes…

But I have a question….

Is your inner critic getting in the way? 

This can be blind-spot for a LOT of my clients. 

They’ve heard that they “shouldn’t” be so self-critical, but they keep doing it anyway because they think it HELPS them. They tell me they NEED to be able to look at their mistakes and be honest about how to improve. 

And look, I AGREE. You definitely need to look at your mistakes if you want to grow at pace.

But here’s the thing…

Are you actually doing that, or are you just using the mistake as a way to beat yourself up?

Are you really looking at the mistake, or are you spending your time and energy spinning negative stories about what the mistake MEANS about you, your career, how other people see you...? 

And while you’re doing all of that, where's the neutral analysis of what happened and what you could do differently next time? 

NOWHERE! You’re too busy being mean to yourself. 😀

Here’s the truth… it is ENTIRELY possible to acknowledge mistakes, look at the cause, and come up with a plan to improve, WITHOUT beating yourself up. 

The one does NOT require the other. 

In fact, your inner critic is actively DAMAGING your growth, performance, confidence etc.
